Last week, I posted a bit about the thought “don’t lose yourself in your fear” on my social media accounts and I want to expand on it a bit more today. After a super encouraging chat with a girlfriend (thank God for great friendships), I realized that I was losing myself to fear. Not only that, but I was allowing fear to hinder me from doing the exact things I know God is calling me to do. One of those calls is to write. Thankfully, in the conversation with my friend I was reminded of an important detail. The enemy is a LIAR. This enemy of ours (yes, I am referring to the devil) is constantly speaking lies wrapped in a blanket of fear. This is probably due to the fact that he knows the potential in us just as much as our God does. As determined as God is to help us reach our potential, evil is just as much determined to stop us from reaching it. The bible says “the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). I know this is a hard reality but I also know that we have a choice. Do we choose to be swayed by the lies and distractions of the enemy or do we choose to rise above? 1 Peter 5:9 says “Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” The bible says clearly here that we can resist him. We have a choice in the matter!
Well, I don’t know about you but I am SO OVER allowing fear to dictate the quality of my life. I am sick of shrinking back to the banter that the enemy throws my way to discourage and unsettle me. I am no longer content with the reality that we allow fear to have room in our lives, for fear, is not from God. Fear is straight from the pit of hell purposed to STOP us from obeying God’s calling and direction for our lives.
Sometimes, I come up with sayings that remind me to declare different things that the Holy Spirit is prompting me to stand on. Out of this recent eye-opening conversation I came up with this declaration. “I am going to punch the enemy in the mouth with my writing.” Ha! Can you imagine that? The enemy’s mouth getting punch with the words I write wrapped in a blanket of truth? This is going to be my response in this next season. I am choosing to resist him and stand firm by not shrinking back. I will shut the mouth of the king of lies as I cling to the words of the King of Truth.
I know this is a strong post. I won’t apologize for it but I do understand if you don’t connect with it in the season of life you find yourself in. We all go through different experiences with unique challenges. I am simply being very upfront with where I am. I can’t help but shake that there are so many of us who are crippled by fear. Some are aware that they are and some are blinded to their own condition. I am choosing to shed light on this matter.
Next week, I am going to go in a bit more depth about a specific area in my life that has been riddled with fear. It is an area that God has actively and relentlessly pursued my heart in. Out of the goodness and mercy of God I have come really far. However, I do believe there is a bit more to go in overcoming the matter. What is this fear, you ask? The fear of man.
Will you join me on this journey of ‘not losing yourself in your fears’ as we cling to the truthful words of God?
Wow! Thanks so much for these encouraging and convicting words. It’s so easy for me to listen to the enemy and think that’s how I truly how you feel. Thanks for the reminder that we can resist him! Looking forward to the next post!

So good Yasmina – I admire your boldness and transparency – it’s so refreshing and necessary- we all do struggle at some level and thank you for the reminder to stand on the truth and not to allow the lies of the enemy to take us out – we all have a unique and beautiful sphere of influence and we can’t allow the enemy to shrink us – we need to rise up and step out to help bring freedom to those around us. I love what your doing Yasmina – your so incredibly beautiful inside and out. I’m excited to read what else you have to say❤️
